about
Soul Food is an extraordinary non-profit organization that embodies compassion and the power of community. Founded in July of 2015 by Bob and Alisa Gound, Soul Food is deeply committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children. As a registered 501C3, our unwavering dedication is centered around addressing the nourishment needs of children who may otherwise experience hunger over the weekends. However, at Soul Food, we don't just focus on physical nourishment; we go beyond that. Our ultimate goal is to touch the hearts and souls of these children through the love of Christ. We firmly believe in the inherent value of every child and strive to be a catalyst for their holistic well-being - body, mind, and spirit. Since our humble beginnings, we have relentlessly pursued our mission to not only fill their bellies but also to nourish their hearts and souls with the love of Christ. Operating within the Floyd and Johnson County school systems in Eastern Kentucky, we are immensely proud that our influence has grown, allowing us to now serve over 500 children every week through our impactful backpack program. This means that we are able to deliver more than 8,000 meals each month or 70,000 meals per school year, providing sustenance and hope to countless children in need. At Soul Food, we believe in the power of a shared purpose, and when we come together as a community, we can truly make a difference. Join us in our mission to nourish both the bodies and spirits of these precious children, as we work towards creating a brighter, more compassionate future for all.
